This is an early demo of whatever mike's (fka Michael Blume) song "Forest" which will be featured on their upcoming "Word to the Trees" EP. The song was written on a trip to the Brazilian Amazon rainforest in 2019 and the demo was recorded shortly after upon returning to New York City. This original demo is incomplete because the rest of the song was not written for another several months. "Forest" is a devastating love letter to the natural world; a lamenting of the damage that's been done and a prayer for hope. Here, the audio has been paired with an original visual piece by whatever mike. The drawing is multimedia -- hand-drawn with colored pencils and later scanned and digitally distorted to create the sense of loss, wonder, and transformation that defines whatever mike's upcoming works.
